Petit Fours – a bite-size Confectionery

Petit four is a small cake that is usually eaten at the end of a dinner served with coffee. They are originally from France, where the word Petit Four means “little oven”. The bases for the cakes were made in the 18th century in the secondary (small) oven, which utilized the heat from the primary (large) coal-fired oven, which was located next to it.

Petits fours are increasingly imaginative, and a fantastic way for chefs to show off their creativity and skills.
